Now Viewing: king_(snk)Tag type: Character Tag refers to the French, blonde, short haired, and androgynous female bartender/bouncer from the game company SNK. She debuted in the first Ryuuko no Ken game and has become a popular recurring character since then. In Ryuuko no Ken King is a Muay Thai expert who grew up in the city of Southtown. She intentionally dresses in a masculine manner to hide her identity and to be taken seriously as a fighter. Five years prior to the main story of Ryuuko no Ken, she suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Jack Turner. To escape poverty, she ended up working for crime boss Mr. Big. Sakazaki Ryou ended up fighting her while searching for his missing sister Yuri. Upon defeating King, Ryou is surprised to discover that King is actually a woman. She turns out to be a compassionate woman and agrees to help Ryou find Yuri and the two of them became close friends. King even has special starting poses with Ryou. In the alternate continuity crossover King of Fighters series, she becomes a bartender who owns a bar called Illusions. She also has an affinity for wine. She is part of the Women's Team in King of Fighters, along with Mai and Yuri. She has a kicking based fighting style. She can also launch energy projectiles with her kicks. In her original appearance, King's true gender was a twist and her debut appearance was the most masculine looking out of all her designs. Upon being defeated with a special attack, her clothes ripped, exposing her as a woman. Her appearances after her debut tend to make her face more feminine. Although she continues to wear the bartender outfit, her breasts are more noticeable in later games as well. While her subsequent appearances make no attempt to hide her gender, King's clothes ripping defeat is preserved; when she is knocked out with special attacks, her clothes will be torn apart exposing her bra.
